English walnut crotch - Totally unexpected result!! (4th Anniversary giveaway) To celebrate four years of woodturning on the channel, I’m turning this huge English walnut crotch blank on the woodturning lathe to create a beautiful piece — and then giving it away to one lucky viewer. This was a challenging woodturning project. The massive walnut crotch, wild crotch grain figure, and awkward shape meant the blank had to be cut down just to fit the lathe. From rough turning and bowl gouge work to shaping and refining the form, this piece fought every step of the way. But as the walnut grain, feather figure, and natural colour started to appear, the result was something completely unexpected.
