Someone sent Momma their secret family recipe to try! 😱

AMBER OMG!!! This recipe was so amazing! Your grandma knows EXACTLY what she’s getting up to in the kitchen! Thanks you so so much for sharing this recipe with us! ⭐️ Ingredients: 1 liter milk (or 4 cups whole milk) 3 tablespoons butter (or margarine) 3 eggs 1 ½ tablespoons cornstarch (in SA “Maizena”) 1 ½ tablespoons cake flour (or all-purpose flour) 2 tablespoons custard powder (or vanilla pudding powder / instant vanilla pudding mix) 1 cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla essence (or vanilla extract) Tennis biscuits (Graham crackers / biscoff cookies) Ground cinnamon (for sprinkling) ⭐️ Recipe: 1. Heat the milk & butter: In a medium pot, heat 4 cups milk and 3 tablespoons butter over medium heat until the butter is melted. Do not boil. 2. Mix dry ingredients & eggs: In a separate bowl, whisk together: 3 eggs 1 ½ tbsp cornstarch 1 ½ tbsp flour 2 tbsp custard powder 1 cup sugar ( i like to add a pinch of cinnamon ) 3. Combine: Slowly pour the warm milk into the egg mixture while whisking continuously (this prevents the eggs from scrambling). 4. Thicken: Pour everything back into the pot. Stir continuously over medium heat until the mixture thickens into a smooth custard. 5. Flavor & simmer: Add 1 tsp vanilla, lower the heat and let it gently simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly. 6. Assemble: Line the bottom of a dish with biscuits ( Or i usually crush the biscuits, add a pinch of salt and butter to make a crust ) 7. Pour & finish: Pour the hot custard over the biscuit layer. Sprinkle the top with ground cinnamon. 8. Cool: Allow it to cool completely, then refrigerate until set. #joshandmomma #joshsmom
