Midday Tide Change Snapper - BIG FISH on Small Jigs

Most snapper sessions revolve around dawn or dusk – but this one fired in the middle of the day, right on the tide change. Launching out of Lakes Entrance, Lee and Caitlin head offshore for a lure-focused snapper session, leaving most of the bait at home and putting their confidence in soft plastics, snapbaits and slow pitch jigs. With the tide building and the drift setting up nicely over good ground, the plan is simple – work the lures properly and see what happens. It doesn’t take long. On the very first drop of the slow pitch jig, the rod loads up and a proper snapper hits the surface – around 75–80cm and pushing 6kg. From there, the bite continues through the middle of the day, with multiple big fish coming on jigs, plastics and snapbaits as the tide does its thing. Throughout the session, Lee runs through how to set up a productive drift, how to choose the right jig weights and shapes, and how to work slow pitch jigs effectively for snapper.
