Route 11: Lothian Buses: 1078 (SJ19OWR) Volvo B8L/ ADL Enviro400XLB

And now for the second of two videos from an excursion to the wonderful city of Edinburgh, with an example of a vehicle I was more keen to sample a ride on, and I did, with Lothian Volvo B8L 1078. 1078 was new in 2009 as one of a batch of 78 Volvo B8L's with ADL Enviro400XLB tri-axle bodies all of which are allocated to Lothian's Central garage in Annandale Road, these vehicles are 100 seaters with a H61/39D layout and are used preominantly on town routes, namely the 7, 11, 15 16, 31, 37, 47 & 47B as their 13.4m length does restrict what routes they can run on. 1078 was captured running on Route 11 which runs from the Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre to Hyvots Bank via Newhaven, Bonnington, Pilrig, York Place, Princes Street, Bruntsfield, Morningside, Fairmilehead, Mortonhall, Kaimes & Gracemount. Today's video provides a Hyvots Bank journey. 1078 is powered by a Euro 6 Volvo D8K 7.7 litre coupled to a ZF EcoLife 6-speed automatic gearbox, these vehicles have quite some power behind them and are not especially common in the UK with only Lothian and Stagecoach Cambridgeshire having batches of them.
