The Nitty Gritty
The Nitty Gritty is a dance composed for the song the Nitty Gritty, originally by Lincoln Chase and Shirley Ellis that was later recorded by Motown Groups such as Gladys Knight & the Pips and the Supremes. The dance was choreographed by actor and dancer Robert Banas (famous from West Side Story) for a performance on the Judy Garland Show in the 1960's.
