Solo Jazz Lesson: Pulsing, Pivots, Eagle Slides, Jump Charleston

This lesson in solo jazz moves presented by the William & Mary Swing Club covers Pulsing, Pivots, Eagle Slides, and Jump Charleston. All the moves originate from the Charleston Dance from South Carolina that became popular in the 1920's after appearing in the Broadway Show, Runnin' Wild. The dance is likely based on an African-American dance style known as Juba. African-American dance clubs in Harlem in the 1920's sped up the choreography from Runnin' Wild into the style that was reinterpreted in the 1930's and 1940's the dance was reinterpreted by Lindy-Hoppers.
