However, when Paul said the word “Gentiles,” the crowd there became filled with anger. They shouted for him to be killed. With this, the Roman soldiers arrested him. As they prepared to flog him for questioning, Paul declared that he was a Roman citizen by birth. The authorities were afraid because it was illegal to punish a Roman citizen without a trial. The next day, Paul was brought before the Sanhedrin to find out what charges were brought against him. This chapter teaches us a great truth. God can change any sinner. Saul, who persecuted Christians, became Paul, who preached the gospel to the world. A person’s life will never be the same after meeting Jesus Christ. God’s grace can change our past and bless our future.
