Today's Light of Life God's Protection Psalm 16:2 I said to the LORD, "You are my God; I have no good besides You!" Corrie ten Boom was a Christian woman who hid Jews from the Nazis in the Netherlands. She was eventually captured and sent to the horrific Ravensbrück concentration camp. In that place of death, Corrie wrote: "There is no pit so deep that God's love cannot reach deeper." For her, God was her true refuge. Although she was in physical danger, her soul was completely protected. She proved Psalm 16, that there is nothing better than God. God does not abandon His loved ones to the realm of the dead without hope. We will still feel safe when the world is most insecure. The word "refuge" in Psalm 16:1 here is not just about safety from danger, but about a secure future. God is the holder of our "cup" and our "inheritance." This means that under His protection, our future cannot be destroyed by worldly circumstances. Even God's protection occurs in the mind (verses 7-8): God gives counsel even by night. Taking refuge in God means allowing our hearts to be at ease because He is at our right hand. "I shall not be moved," David said. So God protects us not because the storm has stopped, but because God is with us in a wonderful way.
