Colorado's Forgotten Mountain Disaster
During the winter of 1848-1849, an expedition by the famous Pathfinder, John C. Fremont became trapped on a high ridge in the remote La Garita Mountains of southern Colorado. Over the following month, 10 of the 35 men would never leave the San Luis Valley. We retrace the actual route and see scenes not seen for 177 years. The forgotten disaster of that winter is brought alive once again.
