APPALACHIA: The Oldest Mountains on Earth
Appalachia, an ancient mountain system, that stretches for more than 1,500 miles from eastern Canada to the U.S. state of Alabama. Within the United States, they pass through thirteen states, forming a broad region with its own unique way of life. Although these mountains appear relatively modest in elevation today, they are among the oldest mountain ranges on Earth.
