The new 25% tariff imposed by the United States is worrying important sectors of the Brazilian economy and raising concerns about the job market. Data from the National Confederation of Industry shows that wood products, non-metallic minerals, chemicals, food, pulp, paper, and machinery are among the most affected. In the wood industry, 83.1% of exports to the American market will be impacted by the new tariff. In the construction sector, more than half of the external sales of non-metallic minerals have also been affected. In the footwear sector, a 7% drop in exports to the United States is expected. The heavy machinery industry estimates a contraction of more than 30% in shipments.
