Street Life on Mill (2002) Nearly 40% of the homeless population in the Tempe area are young adults between the ages of 18–23. However, few agencies or programs specifically address the needs of this population. Using video ethnography, this project sought to identify the needs of homeless young people and to develop a self-portrait of the homeless in the university area. The video provided a depiction of the everyday life, expressions of self, and demonstrates the lack of opportunities experienced by homeless young people. It was used as a tool for opening dialogue regarding the issues of homelessness in the Tempe area. Bart W. Miles, School of Social Work, Wayne State University Stephen J.
