Alex is a 37-year-old Golden-cheeked Gibbon suffering from severe weight loss due to a horribly rotting canine tooth. But she has a serious underlying condition: she is diabetic. Putting a diabetic ape under general anesthesia is incredibly dangerous, as her blood sugar could plummet or spike to fatal levels. Mid-surgery, the vet team is shocked when her blood glucose meter gives a terrifyingly high reading of 38.6!
