DJ Rusher & MC Shabba D | Weekend Rush FM | 1995 Jungle Set

Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. Weekend Rush FM began broadcasting from the towers of Nightingale Estate, Hackney, in 1991 as a London pirate radio station firstly on 92.5FM dial. In 1993, Weekend Rush later took over 92.3 dial. They broadcast from the towers of the Nightingale Estate up to 1995/6 when they were sadly taken off air. Some say it was them who passed on the beacon to Kool FM 94.5. Many of the artists on the station were local to the Hackney area, in London. It is fair say that Weekend Rush started up before Kool FM and many of the artists from Weekend Rush went on to feature and play a big role on Kool FM and other London pirates. Before moving to dizzy heights, Weekend Rush is where Shabba D learnt his craft. To the SASASAS fans, this is where it all started. An urban music history lesson on London's music scene, artists, DJs, MCs and performers. Shabba D also mentions a Jungle Drum & Bass rave called "War Dance" @ Camden Palace, Thursday 1 Feb, 1996. "War Dance was held on the first Thursday of every month. The February lineup consisted of: DJ Grooverider, DJ JJ Frost, DJ SL, DJ Randall, DJ Rusher, DJ Kemistry & Storm.
