What Do We Know About Daphne Hope’s Disappearance?

In August 2001, 34-year-old Daphne Hope vanished from a home she shared with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Gary Sterling in Aurora, Colorado. At first, her disappearance barely made a ripple. A missing persons report was filed. A welfare check was done. And then… nothing. For more than seven years, her case sat buried in paperwork between the Denver Police Department and the Aurora Police Department, until it resurfaced in 2008. Daphne was a licensed hairstylist, a mother to a son named Awsome, and someone deeply loved by her family. But she was also navigating instability including dangerous circles along East Colfax Avenue in Denver, an area long associated with vice activity. When detectives reopened her case, they uncovered a tangled web of rumors including a possible drug deal gone wrong, a mysterious man known only as Pablo. a woman named Jackie”who allegedly claimed Daphne had been taken, and even a serial killer, Richard Paul White, operating in Denver at the same time In 2025, Detective Jason McDonald of the Aurora Police Department reopened Daphne’s case verifying whether she had ever been placed in protective custody, re-submitting DNA to CODIS, and even bringing cadaver dogs to Gary Sterling’s former property after new leads surfaced. Daphne Hope has not been seen or heard from since August 2001. No confirmed sightings. No financial activity. No physical evidence placing her anywhere else.
