We thought we'd found the perfect anchorage. Crystal-clear water. Friendly locals. Hidden caves. Mountain views. Beach bonfires. Isle of Pines quickly became one of our favourite places in the Pacific. But paradise came with rules we didn't know about. After learning about sacred sites, local customs, and the importance of respecting traditional Kanak land, we received an unexpected message: we had to leave.
