Aus einem langen Leben: Gretel Fleischer

More and more people in our society are living longer and longer. In Nuremberg alone, there are currently approximately 90 men and women who can look back on a hundred years of life or more. What does it mean for these people to be so old and, incidentally, to witness a century? The Media Workshop explored this question. For the project "From a Long Life – Centenarians Tell Their Stories," Michael Aue visited many centenarians and interviewed some of them on camera. The ninth episode of this series focuses on Gretel Fleischer. Born and raised near Gotha, she later lived in Weimar with her husband and two daughters after the end of the war, until the family was gradually allowed to emigrate from the GDR to the Federal Republic in the 1970s. For many years, the still independent centenarian has lived in her apartment in the Nuremberg district of Fischbach, where her youngest daughter also lives. The Media Workshop visited Gretel Fleischer there and looked back with her on her long and eventful life.
