I'll show you my rescue plan for channeling the precious rainwater into vegetable beds, ponds, and rain barrels. I'll show you the hail damage and how well the garden has weathered the deluge. Potatoes of various varieties, zucchini, corn, tomatillos, parsley, pumpkins, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, chilies, beans, garlic, celery, cabbage, sweet potatoes, chayote, and many other vegetables are put to the test. We'll observe bumblebees, wild bees, wool carder bees, rose chafers, brush beetles, painted lady butterflies, and many other insects. I'll show you why deadwood, sandy areas, dry stone walls, wild teasels, thistles, and other native plants are so important for preserving our insect world. We'll also take a look inside a bumblebee box and even discover a common carder bee nest.
