CAVALRY IN THE ROMAN ARMY- an OVERVIEW and INTRODUCTION
Starting off our theme of Cavalry and especially Roman Cavalry, the first video takes a wide look at the changing role, importance and nature of cavalry units in Roman armies over the centuries. Over the course of the year, we will examine many of these themes in much more detail, as well as touching on the role of cavalry in other periods and the depiction of cavalry on screen. While there will be a lot of focus on the tactical role in battle, it is important that we also look at the many other roles horsemen played. This theme will run alongside our look at the later Roman army, which will resume next month.
