HERBÁRIO JBRJ #131 - BANCO DE DNA - EP. 5 - JARDIM BOTÂNICO DO RIO DE JANEIRO

This is a special series from the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden commemorating the 131st anniversary of its Herbarium! Founded on June 23, 1890, by João Barbosa Rodrigues, then director of the JBRJ, the collection has specimens even older than its founding, dating back approximately 150 years. In this EPISODE 5, Luciana Franco, curator of the JBRJ Herbarium's DNA Bank, discusses the importance of preserving the genetic memory of species. Our DNA bank is part of GG1-Gardens, an international network of over 90 institutions dedicated to collecting leaf tissue from all species on the planet. The series will consist of a total of SIX EPISODES + BONUS episodes in honor of the Herbarium's anniversary.
