HERBÁRIO JBRJ #131 - O QUE É, HISTÓRIA, EXSICATAS E MAIS - EP. 1 - JARDIM BOTÂNICO DO RIO DE JANEIRO

The special series from the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, celebrating the 131st anniversary of its Herbarium, begins now. Founded on June 23, 1890, by João Barbosa Rodrigues, then director of the JBRJ, the collection has specimens even older than its founding, dating back approximately 150 years. In this EPISODE 1, Rafaela Campostrini Forzza, coordinator of the Herbarium, opens the doors of the collection, recounting the history of the place and showing how exsiccatae – as dried plant specimens are called – are made and stored for later study. The series will consist of a total of SIX EPISODES, one per week until the Herbarium's anniversary. Each episode will cover different collections and areas of study honored by the Herbarium of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden.
