Full title reads: "Brighton. With Impressive Masonic Ceremonial. Major R L Thornton Provincial Grand Master of Sussex lays foundation stone of the new Sussex Eye Hospital." Brighton, East Sussex. LS of a group of Freemasons in full regalia with sashes, gloves and aprons standing behind foundation stone. Major Thornton is speaking. He comments that the stone is set straight (very Masonic language used). He taps the stone into place with a mallet. Pan along exterior of building area as gathered people sing hymn.
