Watch this video and discover why! I have always been attracted to crows and crows have always been attracted to me. The crow community is very conversational and supportive. Crows normally live together in extended families, although they may join a flock to forage in a field. They do return to the safety of the family after a day of foraging and interacting with other crows. Crows make tools, collect trinkets, and leave gifts for favored humans. Crows are extremely intelligent and have learned to adapt to every environment. Clever, cunning, sneaky, mischievous, and intelligent; crows know how to plan ahead, solve puzzles, and do some things just for fun. As a spirit animal or totem, Crow supports you in developing the power of sight, transformation, and connection with life’s magic. Ted Andrews in his classic on animal totems “Animal Speak” tells us that crows are common animals that we can find all around the globe. They are a reminder that magic is everywhere. When you encounter a crow, just tune into its behavior and it will give you a clue on how to use the magic powers it carries. My absurd crow collage takes on a maximalist's approach to cut paper collage. Deconstructed objects are reconstructed, transformed. The crow is the focal point of the collage, but all of the tiny trinkets, words, symbols, doodles, and mark-making are all part of the overall story. My own story creeps into every piece of my artwork...giving meaning to the narrative and objects woven together into my collages.
