In a major breakthrough, the Special Cell has dismantled two dangerous modules linked to the Pakistan-based Shahzad Bhatti network, preventing what could have been a serious security threat to the national capital. A total of six operatives have been arrested during the operation. Preliminary investigation has revealed that one module was planning a terror attack in Delhi, while the other was involved in smuggling sophisticated weapons from Pakistan through drones and distributing them in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The timely and intelligence-driven operation not only foiled a potential terrorist strike but also dealt a significant blow to a cross-border terror and arms trafficking network. According to the investigation, the first module was being operated by Pakistan-based ISI handler Rana Hunain, an associate of Shahzad Bhatti. The group had been assigned the task of carrying out a petrol bomb (Molotov cocktail) attack on a prominent location or a police establishment in Delhi. Acting on precise intelligence, the Special Cell arrested two accused, Danish alias Chand Miya (24) and Salman (20), both residents of Khatauli in Muzaffarnagar, from the Vijay Ghat area. During interrogation, investigators found that Danish had been tasked with conducting reconnaissance in Delhi and planning the attack. He had allegedly been promised ₹20,000 upon successful execution of the mission. His associate Salman was responsible for recording the attack on video and sending the footage to Pakistan-based handlers for propaganda purposes. The police recovered three ready-to-use petrol bombs, a stolen motorcycle, ₹2,000 in cash, and mobile phones containing chats, photographs, and videos exchanged with Pakistani handlers. The Special Cell also exposed a second module that was being run by another Pakistan-based ISI handler, Hasan Gujjar, who is also believed to be associated with Shahzad Bhatti. This network was responsible for receiving sophisticated weapons smuggled into India through drones from Pakistan, supplying them across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, and using the proceeds to finance terrorist as well as organized criminal activities. Four members of this module were arrested. They have been identified as Tayyab (27) of Shaheen Bagh in New Delhi, Zubair Khan (24) of Modinagar in Ghaziabad, Ali Fazal (26) of Lisari Gate in Meerut, and Malkit Singh (36) of Kohala in Amritsar. According to the investigation, Tayyab was responsible for receiving consignments of weapons and arranging their sale. Zubair Khan travelled to Amritsar to collect the weapons, while Ali Fazal handled their distribution to buyers. Malkit Singh acted as the key link responsible for receiving drone-dropped weapon consignments from Pakistan and forwarding them further into the supply chain. From this module, the police recovered three sophisticated pistols, five live cartridges, two vehicles—a Hyundai Verna and a Ford EcoSport—and mobile phones containing communication with Pakistan-based handlers. These digital devices are now being subjected to forensic examination to uncover the wider conspiracy. The Delhi Police have registered an FIR at the Special Cell Police Station under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Investigators are now conducting detailed interrogations to identify other members of the network, trace its funding channels, map the arms supply chain, and determine the intended targets in Delhi. Further arrests are expected as the investigation progresses. This operation is far more than the arrest of six accused individuals. It represents a major setback for Pakistan-backed terror operatives and cross-border arms smuggling networks. Through meticulous intelligence gathering, technical surveillance, and swift operational execution, the Delhi Police Special Cell successfully neutralized a conspiracy that could have posed a grave threat to public safety in the national capital. The operation once again highlights the professionalism, vigilance, and operational excellence of the Special Cell in safeguarding Delhi against terrorism and organized crime.
