These were not ordinary car thieves. They were highly skilled criminals who could steal premium SUVs and cars within minutes without breaking a window or damaging a lock. During the operation, police recovered 50 electronic duplicate vehicle keys, a computerized key-cutting machine, a computer system loaded with vehicle key-programming software, a tablet, a GPS detector, fake registration number plates, and several other advanced tools used to commit vehicle thefts. The Special Staff of Rohini District arrested four members of the interstate auto theft syndicate. The accused have been identified as the gang's mastermind Kuldeep Singh alias Lucky (47), a resident of Jhangola village in Alipur, along with Balvinder alias Binda, Deepak alias Dev, and Bakshish Singh alias Manni. During the investigation, police found that Kuldeep Singh was no ordinary criminal. He is a declared history-sheeter of Alipur Police Station and has 25 previous criminal cases registered against him. Balvinder has 15 previous criminal cases, while Bakshish has eight criminal cases. Deepak's criminal background is still being verified. One of the biggest revelations was that the mastermind had been living in a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Gurugram to stay away from the radar of Delhi Police. From there, he operated the entire vehicle theft network. According to investigators, he successfully ran the interstate syndicate for nearly two years, coordinating vehicle thefts across Delhi and the National Capital Region while keeping his identity hidden. The gang followed a well-planned method. During the day, Balvinder would scout different neighborhoods and identify expensive vehicles parked on the streets or outside residential buildings. After selecting the targets, he would share their exact locations and details with Kuldeep. Using specialized software, a computerized key-cutting machine, and advanced electronic programming devices, Kuldeep would create duplicate smart keys matching the targeted vehicles. Late at night, the gang would return to the location and simply unlock and start the vehicle without breaking any locks or windows. In many cases, vehicle owners did not even realize their cars had been stolen until the next morning. After stealing the vehicles, the gang followed two different routes. Premium SUVs and expensive cars were sold through interstate receivers operating in Delhi and other states. Other stolen vehicles were taken to secret locations where they were dismantled. Valuable components such as engines, gearboxes, ECUs, alloy wheels, doors, bonnets, bumpers, headlights, and other spare parts were removed and sold separately in the grey market. The gang even used a stolen auto-rickshaw to transport dismantled vehicle parts so they would not attract suspicion. During the thefts, the accused wore face masks and carried a GPS detector to identify and avoid modern vehicle tracking systems. With vehicle theft cases rising in Rohini District, Delhi Police launched a special operation to crack down on the organized syndicate. Under the leadership of Inspector Sandeep Godara and the close supervision of ACP Operations Ajmer Singh, the Special Staff carried out extensive technical surveillance, analyzed CCTV footage, gathered intelligence from informers, and monitored the suspects for several days. Acting on the collected evidence, police conducted raids at multiple locations and arrested all four accused. Based on their disclosures, police recovered 11 stolen vehicles, including a Mahindra Thar, Hyundai Creta, Hyundai Alcazar, Maruti Baleno, Maruti WagonR, Hyundai Aura, Maruti Swift Dzire, along with four other stolen vehicles linked to different theft cases. Police also recovered one stolen auto-rickshaw, 50 electronic duplicate vehicle keys, one computerized key-cutting machine, one computer system containing vehicle key-programming software, one tablet, one GPS detector/scanner, multiple fake registration number plates, one drilling machine, face masks, and several other tools used for stealing and dismantling vehicles. Police officials say this was not an ordinary vehicle theft gang but a highly organized interstate syndicate that relied on advanced technology to steal expensive vehicles without leaving visible signs of forced entry. The large number of sophisticated electronic devices recovered from the accused indicates that the gang had been operating systematically across Delhi and neighboring states for a long time. Investigators are now trying to determine how many more vehicles the syndicate may have stolen, where they were sold, and whether additional members of the criminal network are still active.
