TRIBUN-TIMUR.COM - An illegal practice of adulterating subsidized LPG gas has been uncovered in Brebes. The Brebes Police Criminal Investigation Unit's Tipidter Unit uncovered the activity, which involved a school principal. The suspect, identified as KH (50), the principal of a private vocational school, carried out the activity with his colleague TR (46). The activity took place in the school's warehouse in Paguyangan District. Brebes Police Chief, Lilik Ardhiansyah, stated that the state suffered losses of approximately IDR 802 million due to this practice. The method used was transferring the contents of subsidized 3-kilogram LPG cylinders to non-subsidized 12-kilogram cylinders using modified dual regulators. This case came to light after a police raid on Wednesday evening (April 8, 2026). At that time, TR was caught red-handed transferring gas on the orders of KH. Investigations revealed that this practice had occurred 36 times since February 2026. The perpetrators purchased subsidized gas from retailers for Rp 18,000 to Rp 21,000, then sold the adulterated gas for Rp 190,000 per cylinder. During the raid, police confiscated dozens of gas cylinders, modified regulators, and other supporting equipment. The two suspects were charged under the oil and gas and consumer protection laws, which carry a potential prison sentence.
