La souveraineté des Haïdas pour mieux protéger les forêts | La semaine verte

The Haida Gwaii archipelago, in British Columbia. A place inhabited by the Haida First Nation for millennia. But as elsewhere, the effects of colonization have been devastating for this nation. For some time now, through negotiations, the First Nation has obtained its sovereignty and the right to manage the lands and forests of the archipelago. This management allows for a culturally informed approach to forest protection. Having regained control of their lands, the Haida now want to reclaim management of marine resources and fisheries around the archipelago, in order to better protect the iconic Pacific salmon.
