This architectural monument is the mausoleum of the "sage from Termez" - Hakim at-Termezi, whose full name is Abu Abdullah ibn Hasan ibn Bashir. He was a great theorist of Islamic Sufism, an outstanding scholar and the founder of the order of dervishes. In the 11th century, a mausoleum was erected over the tomb of the sage, next to it - a chillakhana (a place for solitude during fasting and prayer). At first, the mausoleum was a rather ascetic structure with a dome decorated with carved ganch. Then, during the time of the Timurids, a new tomb was erected with a masterpiece of stone-cutting art - a monumental tombstone made of white marble. To celebrate the 2500th anniversary of the city of Termez in 2001, the appearance of the mausoleum was almost completely restored, which symbolizes the revival of Islamic values. Hakim at-Termezi is now considered the patron saint of this city, and his mausoleum has become a place of worship for Muslims around the world. And not only Muslims.
