For reference: The Archaeological Museum of Termez was founded on October 24, 2001, on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, I. A. Karimov, in honor of the 2500th anniversary of the city of Termez. This is a unique specialized museum in the region of Central Asia, consisting of an entrance hall, 9 main halls and a gallery.   Termez Archeological Museum was opened to visitors in 2002. In the entrance hall of the museum you can see unique statues of stone and plaster, ceramic vessels of large size, stone pool, as well as a map of the area, where 20 archaeological monuments belonging to different periods of the history of the region are marked. In 9 main halls there are exhibits found during the excavations of the Surkhandarya region, here both primitive stone tools of the primitive man, and works of art made by the hands of skilled craftsmen.   To date, the museum's fund includes more than 27,000 antiquities, consisting of collections of paintings, sculptures, numismatics, archeology, photos, household items and much more. The Museum’s Scientific Library has more than 16,000 unique books, as well as handwritten and lithographic publications in Persian, Arabic, and European languages.   The museum has the following scientific departments:  - Department of the Hellenistic era and ancient Bactria.  - Department of the era of stone and bronze.  - Department of Kushan culture of Northern Bactria.  - Department of the Middle Ages.  - Department of the Early Middle Ages of Northern Tokharistan.  - Department of the Khanate era.  - Numismatics department. Termez Archaeological Museum is one of the few museums that offer visitors such a selection of exhibits from the ancient period of Central Asia. Many of the finds are unique and one-of-a-kind.
