Aiwa AD-1600 and my thoughts about the rising value of reel to reel decks and cassettedecks
In my view, in short term(5 years) we will see the biggest rise in value in reel to reel decks Reel to reel decks are not longer in production, amplifiers and turntables are. I know that Revox was planning to bring new reel to reel decks on the market but it never happened. Top of the line cassettedecks are already very expensive...if you know that a nakamichi zx-9 cost almost the same as a akai gx-747 then you know this price isn't correct. The Akai should be minimum twice the price of the dragon. A reel to reel deck is still the best source when using studio master tapes. And above all, a reel to reel deck is by looks the most magic thing from the vintage period. Nothing can beat those spinning reels. People are just starting to discover these reel to reel decks, mark my words
