Synopsis Production: Ei Eiga-sha (British Film Company) Planning: Keizaburo Miyata 1966, Color, 26 minutes, Selected by the Science Film Museum A densely packed wooden shopping street, cramped shacks, and a chaotic cityscape despite abundant goods, constantly exposed to the risk of fire and hindering the modernization of businesses. This film depicts a grand attempt to modernize this stagnant Tokyo of the mid-Showa era. This is a promotional video for Tokyo Co-op, which planned the construction of the "Co-op Broadway Center," a multi-purpose building later known as Nakano Broadway.
