Pink Broomstick® Exercise Standing Wall Slide for Breast Cancer Surgery Rehabilitation

Plan to begin this exercise program as soon as your physician gives you permission. When you begin these exercises, you may find that you tire easily and that there is some discomfort as you attempt to do them. However, continue to do them to the point of slight discomfort but not until it becomes painful. Work at your own pace and do these exercises on a regular basis. If you experience a sharp increase in pain or swelling, consult your physician immediately. If you continue to have problems with your motion and strength for 6-8 weeks after surgery, please contact your physician. Standing Wall Slide: 1. Stand close to a wall with your forearms resting on the wall, shoulder width apart and palms facing each other. 2. Look down at your feet to help keep your back straight. 3. Slide both forearms up the wall as far as possible. 4. Hold for a count of 5 - then slide slowly back down. The end goal of the standing wall slide is to get your arms all the way overhead.
