Lesson 5: For January 31, 2026 SHINE LIKE LIGHTS IN THE NIGHT Saturday, January 24 THIS WEEK'S STUDY: Philippians 2:12–30; Romans 3:23, 24; 5:8; 2 Timothy 4:6; 1 Corinthians 4:17 2 Timothy 4:13, 21; Luke 7:2. MEMORY TEXT: “Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, ‘children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.’ Then you will shine among them like lights in the world” (Phil. 2:14, 15). God told the Hebrews that their obedience to his will would be “a sign of wisdom and understanding to the nations, who, when they hear all these laws, will say, ‘What a wise and understanding people! What a great nation this is!’” (Deut. 4:6). Centuries later, Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). He also said: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matt. 5:14). How can we be that light? Only through a close relationship with Jesus, “the true light, which gives light to everyone who comes into the world” (John 1:9). As Philippians 2:9-11 says: “Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” The light and power of Heaven are available to those of us who have surrendered our lives to Jesus, but too often we expect God to do our part as well, or we allow our own ideas and plans to get in the way; hence, Paul’s words to the Philippians are so relevant today. #danielherrerajerez #biblelessons #sabbathschool2023 #danielherrerajerez God bless you, brothers and sisters of the Bible Lessons community.
