Today, we'll discuss not just Toyota itself, but the combination of indirect and direct injection. Gasoline engines installed in modern cars can differ in many parameters, including displacement, number of cylinders, turbocharging method, and injection type. In a multipoint indirect injection system, each cylinder has its own injector, located in the intake port, directly before the intake valve. Direct injection is a system in which a dose of fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber via an injector (located in the cylinder). This solution allows for rapid exchange of the fuel-air mixture above the piston, and the injected fuel significantly lowers the temperature in the cylinder. Low-temperature fuel cools the piston crown and cylinder walls, while simultaneously increasing the compression ratio. This allows for significantly greater engine efficiency without the risk of abnormal fuel combustion, known as knocking. So what are the characteristics of dual injection? It combines both systems, leveraging their unique characteristics. Toyota is a hybrid car, combining an electric motor with a gasoline engine.
