Monaco Historique 2026 | March 701 & McLaren M23 | Flat Out in F1 History

And that’s Monaco… 🇲🇨 Tom returned to the Monaco Historique Grand Prix 2026, taking on the ultimate challenge: racing not one, but two Formula One icons around the most demanding street circuit in the world. Back behind the wheel of the Ex–Sir Jackie Stewart March-Tyrrell 701 (1970 Spanish Grand Prix winner and Monaco pole car), Tom was also piloting the legendary McLaren M23 — the Ex–Peter Revson 1973 British Grand Prix winner and a car that was raced in period by F1 World Champion Jody Scheckter. One of McLaren’s most important designs, the M23 defined an era of Formula One. The goal? Compete across two classes and maximise every second on track at one of the most unique events in historic motorsport. With support from our good friends at Lanzante, both cars were prepared to an exceptional standard. But as always, Monaco had other plans… An early incident in practice ruled the March-Tyrrell out for the weekend — putting everything on the McLaren. With limited running, Tom built confidence in qualifying, securing P11 out of 28 cars, later promoted to P9 after penalties. A strong result was within reach heading into race day. But Monaco strikes again. A fuel pump failure on the very first lap brought the race to an abrupt end. A tough result for the whole team — and a reminder of the raw, unpredictable nature of historic racing, where even the smallest issue can change everything. This is the full story — from preparation to setbacks — of taking on one of the most unforgiving circuits in the world. We go again in 2028.
