What makes a good dance floor? A good dance floor is all about the right balance of the crowds. You need contrast: queers, social misfits, music nerds, fashion queens, real dancers, people from different races, classes, sexualities, body types, and ways of moving through the world. The best dance floors feel exciting because they’re unpredictable, but safe enough that everyone can actually let go. When the balance is right, the dance floor becomes more than a room full of people. It becomes this shared moment where everyone is different, but somehow moving together.
