Today we visited one of County Waterford's best-kept secrets – Ballysaggartmore Towers. Hidden in the woods near Lismore, these breathtaking Gothic towers were built in 1834 as the grand entrance to an estate that was never completed. Behind their fairytale appearance lies a fascinating and tragic history dating back to the Great Famine. We enjoyed the beautiful woodland loop walk, explored the historic towers, had a family picnic, and spent quality time together—all on a budget.
