Replacing Pentair Slide Backflow Backwash Valve on DE or Sand Pool Filter (PN 263064) Comprehensive

In this video, I show you how to swap out your slide valve that controls the backflow / backwash function on your DE or Sand pool filter. Note that the dimensions on my old Pentair slide valve were very slightly different - the offset from the "front" and "back" connections were an inch or so closer together. I've scoured the 'net looking for another valve with the "old dimensions" and haven't found anything. Also, I understand that on the typical sand filter installation, the "normal" and "backflow" positions are reversed. That doesn't change anything about the installation, other than the position you have the valve in to do the testing / operation. This video also shows how to source reasonably priced adapters for systems that are plumbed with 1-1/2" PVC pipe (most of them, I'd guess). Pentair adapters are really spendy, but you can pick up the functional equivalent from Home Depot (or other similar home supply store) for a few bucks.
