I Ditched My DE Filter for a 27” Hayward Sand Filter

In this video, I’m switching my pool from an old DE filter setup to a Hayward 27-inch sand filter with a top-mounted multiport valve. I’ll walk through the basic install, plumbing changes, setup, and what I learned along the way. DE filters can give great water clarity, but they also come with more maintenance, cleaning, and handling of DE powder. For this pool, I wanted something simpler and easier to maintain, so I decided to convert over to a sand filter system.
