L'Avenir - Forever

L'Avenir is the dark synth and coldwave project of American electronic musician and sound artist Jason Sloan from Baltimore, Maryland. Originally launched around 2010–2011 as a side project, L’Avenir became Sloan’s main creative outlet for exploring minimal synth, coldwave, darkwave, and analog electronic music inspired by classic acts such as Depeche Mode, Fad Gadget, and DAF. Unlike Sloan’s earlier ambient and experimental work, L’Avenir focuses on colder rhythms, melancholic melodies, drum machines, and vintage synthesizers. The music blends the minimalism of early European coldwave with modern dark electronic production, often featuring deep reverb-heavy vocals and emotionally distant atmospheres. Critics and underground synth publications frequently describe the project as “cold synth” or “minimal wave,” placing it alongside the modern revival of underground 1980s-inspired electronic music. L’Avenir has released music through labels including Cold Beats Records, EINS:ZWEI:ACHT, Minimalkombinat, Beläten, and Single Speed Tapes, issuing albums on vinyl, cassette, CD, and digital formats. Sloan has also performed live internationally and collaborated within the contemporary darkwave and minimal synth scene. The project is part of the broader coldwave revival movement that re-emerged in the 2000s, reviving the stark, DIY electronic aesthetics of early European post-punk and minimal synth culture https://lavenir.bandcamp.com/album/se... lyrics As daylight disappears All hope in doubt Like quicksand pulls you under There’s no way out The shepherd leads his flock They say good-bye Promised a life in paradise But soon they’ll die It’s our last night together A fate revealed Like Ixion spinning round on his flaming wheel Can this night last forever? Can this night last forever?
