In the mid-twentieth century, in the north of the province of Cáceres, the Gabriel y Galán Reservoir was created, a work that caused the expropriation of the lands of Granadilla, forcing its neighbors to abandon the town. Eventually, seeing that the waters of the reservoir would not cover the city, it was decided to restore and rehabilitate much of its historical heritage and some of its houses. For their part, thousands of students contribute every year through educational activities, important tasks that help the maintenance and authenticity of the town.
