On Saturday evening around 7 p.m., a field fire in a stubble field near Twistringen required the response of numerous firefighters from the region. At one point, the fire threatened to jump a road and spread to another field, but fortunately, this was prevented. In total, the flames spread across approximately 35,000 square meters before the fire department brought the blaze under control. Farmers with tractors and cultivators provided crucial assistance to the firefighters in containing the fire. Less positive, however, was the fact that the fire apparently also attracted numerous onlookers, some of whom obstructed the approaching fire engines on the narrow roads. The cause of the fire is still unknown. The grain field had already been harvested, and no work was being carried out on the field at that time. Given the current dry conditions, the fire department warns against smoking and open flames in nature. A single spark is enough to start a fire.
