EPA RAID ON ILLEGAL DREDGE MINING IN SIERRA LEONE
In response to the escalating threat of illegal mining, particularly in riverine areas, the Environment Protection Agency (EPA-SL) initiated a decisive action in November 2023. Our first field trip led to the destruction of 80 dredges and the arrest of 25 persons. We are delighted to provide a brief video documenting these major events. These actions safeguard our natural resources, conserve ecosystems, and ensure a sustainable future for everybody. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Sierra Leone Police and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces for their unwavering support and collaboration. The #EPA is steadfast in its commitment to enforcing environmental laws, ending river dredging, and preventing environmental crimes nationwide.
