Città di Otranto - Cattedrale della SS. Annunziata

In the enchanting Piazza Duomo in Otranto, the ancient cathedral dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo stands out. Its imposing structure is positioned on the highest point of the old town and dominates all the buildings in the city. The Cathedral was built by the Norman conquerors in the 11th century, who designed it in the typical Apulian Romanesque style. At the top is the characteristic rose window, clearly of Iberian Gothic influence, composed of 16 rays and finely perforated according to the canons of late 15th-century art. The entrance is adorned by the holm oak portal. It dates back to 1674 and was constructed in accordance with the Lecce Baroque traditions. @perte cities online WEB: https://www.opencitiesonline.com/ SALENTO OPEN SOURCE License Creative Commons - Attribution - NonCommercial - NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0)
