CEUTA (Spain in Africa) - A day in the Spanish exclave across the Strait of Gibraltar (Travel Guide)
Ceuta and Melilla (see separate film) are unique autonomous cities located on the African coast. Centuries of European rule have set them apart from the Moroccan nation that surrounds them, both politically and culturally. Both the architecture and the gastronomy are recognisably Spanish, but with subtle twists resulting from their distinct geography. Ceuta is easily reached by ferry or Catamaran from Algeciras (see separate film) and is well worth a visit. This film takes you on a walking tour of the city with a particular look at the many works of public art. A delicious meal at La Columna is also not to be missed. "Ceuta emociona" is the slogan of the tourist board, and emotions are certainly stirred by the fantasy architecture of the Casa de los Dragones and the mighty sculptures of Hercules.
