Among the confirmed cases in June, there were 130 severe patients and one death; the deceased had underlying medical conditions. Authorities explained that the currently circulating COVID-19 virus is mostly the Omicron variant, and no new variants capable of posing a public health risk have emerged. Hu Yang, a respiratory physician at the Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital affiliated with Tongji University, stated, "COVID-19 infections typically peak on a small scale between June and August each year," adding, "The overall situation is within a controllable range, and there is no trend toward a large-scale outbreak yet."
