Coussinets usés vs neufs : test au Plastigage + comprendre les centièmes (Twingo 1)
In this video, I measure the connecting rod bearing clearance using Plastigage on a cast iron Cléon engine from a Renault Twingo 1. I compare the measurements between worn and new bearings to clearly visualize the wear and differences in engine clearance. Plastigage allows for precise control of the clearance between the connecting rod and the crankshaft, without the need for complex metrological equipment. It's a simple yet very informative method for understanding the condition of a bottom end. At the end of the video, I explain the concepts of tenths and thousandths of a millimeter, with concrete examples to better understand these values, such as the thickness of a fine hair or a sheet of paper. 👉 A useful video for anyone who wants to better understand engine mechanics and internal operating clearances.
