Today’s Readings: First Reading: Deuteronomy 7:6–11 Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 103:1–2, 3–4, 6–7, 8, 10 Second Reading: 1 John 4:7–16 Holy Gospel: Matthew 11:25–30 Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, a feast that reveals the depth of God’s love for humanity. In the First Reading, Moses reminds the people of Israel that they were chosen by God not because of their greatness or strength, but because of His faithful love. God remains true to His covenant and continually shows mercy to those who love Him and keep His commandments. This reading reminds us that God's love is not earned; it is a gift freely given to His people. In the Second Reading, Saint John proclaims one of the most beautiful truths of the Christian faith: “God is love.” God showed His love by sending His Son into the world so that we might have life through Him. As recipients of this divine love, we are called to love one another. When we live in love, God dwells within us, and His presence becomes visible through our words and actions. In the Holy Gospel, Jesus invites all who are weary and burdened to come to Him. He promises rest for our souls and reveals His Sacred Heart as gentle and humble. In a world filled with anxiety, stress, and uncertainty, Christ offers comfort, peace, and hope. His yoke is easy, and His burden is light because He walks beside us and carries our struggles with us. As we honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus today, may we open our hearts to His boundless love, trust in His mercy, and become instruments of His compassion in the world.
