Today’s Readings: First Reading: Acts 11:21b–26; 13:1–3 Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 98:1, 2–3ab, 3cd–4, 5–6 Holy Gospel: Matthew 10: 7–13 In today’s First Reading, we celebrate the witness of Saint Barnabas, a man filled with faith and the Holy Spirit. When Barnabas arrived in Antioch and saw God’s grace at work among the believers, he encouraged them to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast hearts. Recognizing the growing mission of the Church, he brought Saul (Paul) to Antioch, where together they taught and strengthened the Christian community. It was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians. This reading reminds us that God uses faithful and encouraging people to build His Church and lead others closer to Christ. In the Holy Gospel, Matthew 10:7–13 instructs believers to actively proclaim the Kingdom of Heaven while selflessly serving others through healing and giving without expecting payment or reward. It demands radical trust in God's providence, commanding workers of the faith to travel lightly without relying on material wealth, extra clothing, or personal provisions. Finally, it emphasizes that spiritual peace is a valuable gift to be shared generously with welcoming households, but also protected and reclaimed if a community rejects the message. May today’s readings inspire us to be faithful witnesses of Christ like Saint Barnabas, to encourage others in their faith journey, and to pursue peace and reconciliation in our relationships.
