You’ve read all the books. You can explain your emotions with precision. You understand your patterns, your past, your pain. And yet… you still feel stuck. Numb. Disconnected. In this video, I talk about something I’ve lived through myself: intellectualizing your emotions, using insight as a way to protect yourself from actually feeling what’s there. We’ll explore how this often begins as a survival strategy, especially when feeling wasn’t safe growing up, and how it can quietly keep you from healing. I’ll walk you through the difference between emotional awareness and emotional integration, the neuroscience behind why this happens (including a powerful split-brain study), and why healing isn’t just about understanding. It’s about allowing yourself to feel again, gently and safely, in connection with others.
